Magic the Gathering Fall 2019 League:
Throne of Eldraine

There will be 3 discrete events with cards added. The league consists of 3 phases of match play culminating in a seeded end-of-season tournament.

Format / Card Pool / Deck Building

1. 1. Match Play Phases 1-3
      1. Decks will be 40 cards selected from a limited card pool as follows:
         1. Phase 1: draft - draft 3 packs of Throne of Eldraine.
         2. Phase 2: booster add - all cards from Phase 1, plus each player opens and adds 3 packs to their pool (TOE)
         3. Phase 3: draft - all cards from Phases 1&2, plus cards from a 3-pack booster draft (TOE)
      2. Decks may be adjusted after every game, sideboards are unlimited size
      3. Decks may not include more than 4 copies of any card (excepting basic lands)
   2. Seeded End-of-Season Tournament
      1. Tournament decks will be 40 cards selected from all cards in pool from match play, +15 card sideboard.
      2. Decklists are fixed at the start of the tournament (i.e. your deck will be the same for every game 1)
      3. Decks may not include more than 4 copies of any card (excepting basic lands)

Seasonal Match Play

2. Following each card-add event, there will be a phase of seasonal match play. The goal is to finish as many matches as possible on the day of the card-add, to minimize scheduling challenges. Matches not completed on the day of card-add can be scheduled independently and played over Arena/MtGO

   1. Schedule. During each phase, each player will play each other player in a single 50 minute best of 3 match. Assuming an 8 person league, there will be 21 matches per person as follows:
      1. Phase 1: 7 matches by [Nov 2nd]
      2. Phase 2: 7 matches by [Dec 4th]
      3. Phase 3: 7 matches by [Jan 18th]
   2. Scoring
      • Win: 3 points
      • Tie: 1 point
      • Loss: 0 points
      • Did not play: 1 point for each player and a lifetime of shame

End-of-Season Tournament

3. 1. Tournament Held on [date], the final event will consist of a double elimination tournament. Double elimination will feature a winner’s + losers bracket such as:

      1. Initial pairings will be seeded based on point totals earned during match play. Tiebreakers will be settled by head-to-head record followed by roll off
      2. Subsequent pairings will follow the bracket layout
   3. Tournament Matches
      1. Matches will be best of 3, untimed
      2. See section 1.2 for tournament deck composition rules

Prizes

4. 1. Prize pool - Each player will donate 6 packs for prizes, for a total of 48 packs .
   2. Seasonal Match Play Prizes (24 packs) Awarded after each phase as follows:
      • First place: 5 packs
      • Second place: 3 packs
   3. Tournament Prizes (24 packs):
      • First place: 10 packs
      • Second place 6 packs
      • Third place: 4 packs
      • Fourth place: 4 packs
